Valery is a 58-year-old housewife. She had a sciatic pain on and off for about 12 years, and x-ray showed a slipped disc in her lower spine. A few months ago she had a fall, which made the pain a lot worse, even walking became a problem. The pain was from the lower back through the left thigh all the way down to her left foot. When she first came to my clinic, climbing up the stairs was a real struggle. After the first session of acupuncture, she could already walk better and climb up the stairs without too much difficulty. After the second session, she made more progress and also felt more energetic, though there was still some discomfort in the lower back and left foot. After six sessions, she could do most of her housework and could bend down easily to tie her shoe laces, which she hadn’t been able to do for a few years. After the 7th session, she started doing gardening again. She was so pleased to have tried acupuncture, and now still comes to see me once a month for a regular maintenance. If there're any stiffness or mild aches, they can always ease off right after the acupuncture treatment.
